Site (and discourse)-specificity in poetry occasions a shift in focus to digital space, its sonic economy, and the communities and floating locations/sites thereof.

Place, space, and map(ping) are therefore radically redefined in the context, and contemporary poetry appears to be indissolubly related to the process: the poem of place is the place, and poetry becomes the site of the com(mon)ing community. Commoning-paralleled to placing in poetry-turns out to be of critical importance in present-day community especially with correlatives such as displacement and undecidablility. Agamben’s theory of the coming community is therefore examined as possible response to both these stances, with its relevance to contemporary movements, including post-Occupy. Also, performative subjectivity is traced as either the source of anticommunal community (in French theory), or mere Christian-capitalist construct (in communist philosophy).

In the process of this analysis, the participatory emerges as a subtler, more nuanced, and less predictable phenomenon than usually accepted. This involves a brief review of traditional avant-gardes, 20th century engaged art, and recent political-art movements. 3, 2016: 10-44 The article examines the concept of contemporary community as commoning, at the intersection of action, performance or participatory art, place, site-specific, and (post)digital poetry. The analysis will have two main focuses: one will examine the link between translation and the contrarian turn of comparative literature and the second one will read the minoritizing model of translation through the anarchist antirepresentationalist ethic and aesthetic, in order to illustrate their convergence as alternative, radical lines of thought. I argue that the translation paradigm and the non-vanguardist anarchist aesthetic are stemming from the same legacy of freedom, both formulating their basic ethical, political and aesthetical assumptions in the context of the crisis of representation, and both encountering the same practical and theoretical difficulties. The paper aims at discussing translation as a political and ethical paradigm, as proposed by Bogdan Ghiu and Lawrence Venuti, in the broader context of comparative literature's contrarian turn with the Bernheimer and the Saussy reports, as well as in conjunction with anarchism's minor literary tradition (in the deleuzian sense).
